Channel Master Debuts Linear Online Video Delivery at International CES
Company Integrates Online Broadcast Channels into DVR+ Platform
Las Vegas, NV -- (January 5, 2015 ) - - Channel Master, the nation's leading manufacturer of broadcast reception products since 1949, today announced its new LinearTV technology, a solution that integrates online broadcast content into a multi-source linear television program guide.
LinearTV technology is a software-based, online content aggregation solution that allows consumers to access live and linear online channels with the DVR+.
Online broadcast channels appear in a linear channel guide alongside over-the-air broadcast channels and Internet-based applications such as Vudu, Pandora and Youtube, giving the consumer a seamless TV viewing experience across multiple content delivery sources. The solution, debuting on Channel Master's DVR+ at International CES, is the first of its kind in a consumer electronics device, and is expected to be available to DVR+ customers via a software update in early 2015.
"There's been a lot of Industry discussion about the future of TV and it always focuses on the delivery of linear content via the Internet." said Joe Bingochea, executive vice president of product development. "For the first time in a consumer device, you can now see what that future looks like and we've engineered it to function within a familiar, simple user interface."
Unlike traditional streaming devices, Channel Master's online video delivery solution does not require the development or utilization of an app to access content. This approach provides tremendous value to both content owners and consumers, with decreased development costs, faster time-to-market and a simplified user experience that does not disrupt traditional TV viewing.
"When we developed the DVR+ we had a vision of a TV solution for both consumers and content owners that would be much more than just a DVR and apps", said Coty Youtsey, president and CEO of Channel Master. "Our LinearTV technology is the culmination of that vision and we're very excited to get it into the living rooms of our customers."
